Time ago, i got an email asking me about to write a tutorial for a new magazine. Flash & Flex Developer’s Magazine, let you contribute with articles and tutorials about development. They are very nice people, and they will publish a tutorial i made about game development with AS3.0.
I know there are a lot of Flash developers out there who will be glad to contribute, and also a lot of readers like you, who will be happy about to have a printed magazine with a CD to keep learning.

While trying to publish Pocket Pool (http://www.alejandroquarto.com/wp-content/test/pocketPool_v3.html), I had some time to play a big ammount of webgames. I was surprissed when i saw that one of the most played games at MochiAds is Bloons. This game, is the top one at mochiads ranks, and also is online for playing in a lot of game sites and portals.

First impression is that Bloons is a really simple game, and it is in fact. Also is highly addictive, and is so easy to get stuck at higher levels.

The aim of this tutorial is to introduce the main gameplay feature of Bloons to be able to create  new games.

I have to say, is really easy to create a “clon”, but is not my goal, people will not play a bad copy, will play Bloons. The only thing you can do here if you want to monetize a game like Bloons, is just to add new features, gameplay improvements, powerups, etc, and the most important thing: do something creative and original with the game concept.

Game in a day, crazy mode: ON 

After the first source compilation, i used a few hours on the last saturday to see what kind of game i can expect from this kind of examples.

The Game

Even this pool game is not the best, it have just a litle work, few hours to put all together, some art, and a really poor sound system. My first impression is that balls examples opens a big world of chances for game development. They are simple, easy to handle and inside a system, they can take a lot of shapes. This time i made a simple pool. If you remember Pocket Gal, Pocket Gal 2, and the sequel Super Pool, for old systems, this game is not new for you.
I have to say, the physics are not real, cos it can take a long while to play with all the Newton’s laws. Anyway, simulation is playable, and compared with any webgame arround.  If you want to play real pool, development can take more than few hours.

This time, i will try to write in english. Sorry about my possible mistakes.
Since i’ve been uploading source code for a month, is time to do a compilation with a litle description, for all my readers that are not able to read spanish.

NOTE: all the examples includes a link o the source code, it can be a zip, or just the code to copy and paste. Link with FLA is usually at the bottom, in CS3 format.
